Florida Keys August 2025 Fishing Report

It’s been a fantastic summer so far in the Florida Keys, and we have been having a great time with our clients! Our pontoon and day cruise clients have been enjoying the beautiful weather and having a great time out on the water. The reef fishing has been excellent all summer long with no sign of slowing down. Offshore fishing was incredible early in the season, and after a brief cool-down period, the bite is heating back up again. Below you will find a more detailed fishing report.
Reef Update
The Florida Keys are famous for offering excellent reef fishing year-round, and this summer has been no exception. In June, our vessels caught lots of Yellowtail Snapper and even a fair share of Cero mackerel. In July, the Mangrove Snapper bite heated up big time, especially after the full moon mid-month during their annual spawn.

Our customers have also been reeling in some impressive larger fish on the reef, including Mutton Snapper, Black Grouper, and Red Grouper! It’s a blast, but the summer heat in the Keys is no joke. Be sure to bring plenty of sunscreen. We provide complimentary iced water to help you stay cool, but feel free to bring any other food or drinks you’d like.

When you’re done fishing, our Captains will fillet your catch, and you can take it to pretty much any of the local restaurants to have it cooked up for you. Many of our clients enjoy a 4-hour morning trip and then take their fresh catch to a local restaurant for lunch. For those on a 6- to 8-hour trip, it’s common to head home for a shower and then enjoy their catch cooked for dinner.

Offshore Update
June offshore fishing was off to a great start this summer with some large Mahi going on the board. In July, the mahi bite slowed a bit, not because of a lack of fish per se, but because of a lack of legal-sized keepers. Our offshore clients had fun catching Mahi, but to get some good eats, we had to catch some Tuna on the hump or focus on the reefs to tide us over.
I am happy to report the Mahi bite is picking back up again! The wonderful thing about the Florida Keys is that there’s always something to catch. It’s just a matter of being flexible and letting your captain figure out what works best on the day you are fishing.
For our Captains, it is all about reading the conditions and making a plan based on them, that is the trick to consistently producing fish and great memories for our clients!

With so much action on the reefs and offshore, it’s a great time to get out on the water. Whether you’re looking for an exciting day of fishing or a relaxing day cruise, we have an unforgettable experience waiting for you. Book your trip today and make some memories!
