Wintertime Florida Keys Fishing Report
2
025 is officially here and it sure is chilly around the country. Right now, it’s 24℉ degrees Fahrenheit in New York and 35℉ in Texas! So, if you want to escape the winter blues, toss those winter boots in the closet, grab a pair of sandals, and head down to the Florida Keys! The 10-day forecast is showing temperatures in the mid-seventies and 11MPH winds. Ideal conditions for some fishing or cruising aboard one of our many vessels!
If that wasn’t enough to convince you, the fishing has also been excellent! We love fishing in the winter because there is lots of bait around this time of year. That means many predators are also around, fired up and looking to feed, which is excellent for fishing!
It also means some of those incredible offshore fish like Tuna and Sailfish can be found much closer to land. You should see the look on our customer’s faces when a Sailfish shows up while we catch Yellowtail on the reef; it is pretty priceless!
The last week of December is the busiest fishing week of the year because of the Holiday break, but the first few weeks of January are a fantastic time to visit because the crazy holiday rush is behind us.
Ok, so this is a fishing report after all, let’s see how our boats have been doing! First of all, we have been catching Yellowtail and Mangrove Snappers left and right. The current has been good, our chums slick loaded with happy comfortable fish.
We have also been catching Mutton Snappers, Amberjacks and African Pompano on the wrecks.
Sailfish and Tuna are near offshore, and as mentioned before, they even show up now and again on the reef! We have also been catching Spanish, Cero, and King Mackerel, which we typically do in the winter.
The Shark and Barracuda bite has also been very consistent. The razor-sharp teeth of these aggressive predators excite all of our anglers, both young and old.
For those not crazy about fishing, we also offer a variety of pontoon party boat cruises, sandbar trips, snorkeling, and sunset cruises. Really, there is something for everyone down here as long as you like warm weather and fun! Feel free to book a trip online, visit our contact page, or simply call us at (305)-903-5764, and we will be happy to help you find the perfect adventure to make some lasting memories!
