Offshore fishing is where bucket lists are checked! Fishing stories that you will tell for a lifetime are born in the offshore waters of the Florida Keys. Offshore fishing we primarily target Tuna, Dolphinfish (Mahi) and Sailfish depending on the time of year.
In the fall and winter we fish closer in for Sailfish and Tuna as well as Kingfish. In the Spring and Summer we fish for Mahi and Tuna further offshore. Targeting these species are a great option for larger groups and families because when multiple hookups occur at the same time it is all hands on deck!
The pandemonium of everyone working together to catch as many fish as possible during multiple hookup scenarios leads to a feeling of teamwork and accomplishment when it’s done. The adrenaline rush, excitement, yelling and the laughter all makes it so much fun.
The ocean is an unpredictable place, offshore fishing in the Florida keys can also lead to catching Wahoo, Triple Tail, Cobia and much more depending on the circumstance. Every now and then something really special happens offshore, like a Blue Marlin shows up ready to give you the fight of a lifetime or a massive thousand-pound hammerhead chomps your catch in half in front of your very eyes.
Even just cruising offshore cool things can happen like pulling up to a 60ft whale shark or being followed by a playful pod of bow-riding porpoise! That is the beauty of offshore fishing, anything can happen and you get some opportunities to land a fish truly worthy of a fiberglass mount.
Another advantage of offshore fishing is on the rougher days constantly being on the move reduces your chances of getting seasick versus being on the anchor rocking back and forth.
Dolphinfish a.k.a Mahi Mahi
Dolphinfish commonly referred to by their Hawaiian name Mahi Mahi are found off the shores of the Florida Keys in the late Spring, Summertime and early Fall. Many come down to the Florida Keys to “Meat Fish” during this season as Dolphinfish travel in large schools and tend to settle in behind the back of the boat allowing anglers to pluck them out of the ocean one by one without scaring off the rest of the school. Dolphinfish are the fastest growing fish in the sea because they are voracious eaters. They can be found hanging out under or near floating objects and weed lines.
Blackfin Tuna
Blackfin Tuna are a highly desirable fish to catch in the Florida Keys due to their fantastic sushi grade red flesh. They can be found offshore while searching for Dolphinfish and Sailfish or specifically targetted on the Marathon Hump about 30 miles offshore.

Very fun day! Greg and Chris were great with my kids (ages 11, 9, and 7). Never had to wait for bait or touch a fish. Caught plenty of delicious fish that we took to a nearby restaurant to have it blackened, coconut fried, and sautéed. Great trip!
My wife and I had a great time fishing with captain Greg and his first mate! Caught a lot of fish. Non stop action. Greg and Chris were awesome!! Worked hard and are very friendly!! I would definitely recommend them!
